U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Appropriations that Provide Support of Tribal Environmental Protection Programs​

The 21 Member Tribes of the Inter Tribal Association of Arizona (ITAA) support continued and increased funding for Tribal environmental programs.

The 21 Member Tribes of the Inter Tribal Association of Arizona (ITAA) support the purpose and methodology of the Intergovernmental Fund Transfer Agreement (IFTA).

Fiscal Year 2023 Center for Disease Control and Prevention Appropriation Request​

The ITAA support the continuation of the Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country (GHWIC) funding, as part of the CDC budget as outlined in the Office of Management and Budget’s report. It includes “$9.9 billion in discretionary funding to build capacity at CDC and the State and local levels, an increase of $2.8 billion over the 2021 enacted level”.

Tribal Public Health Infrastructure Increase Continued Funding​

The 21 Tribes of the Inter Tribal Association of Arizona (ITAA) strongly support continued and increased Tribal public health infrastructure funding and other resources that support public health infrastructure in Tribal communities be made explicitly and directly available to Tribes and Tribal Epidemiology Centers in order to protect the public’s health.

Maternal Health Funding for Tribal Maternal Health Programs​

The 21 Member Tribes of the Inter Tribal Association of Arizona (ITAA) strongly request that funding and resources to support maternal health capacity and infrastructure, including expansion and staffing of birthing facilities, be made available to reduce disparities in birth outcomes and maternal mortality and morbidity through equitable access to services.

Legislation to Develop Dedicated and Sustained Funding Streams for Tribal Public Health Emergency Preparedness Programs Including Prevention and Control of Vector-borne Diseases

The 21 Tribes of the Inter Tribal Association of Arizona (ITAA) strongly request that public health preparedness emergency funding and other resources that support vector-borne disease surveillance, prevention, and control, be made explicitly and directly available to Tribes in order to protect public health.

Rural Community Development Funding Program of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

The 21 Member Tribes of the ITAA strongly request appropriations for the HHS-ACF-OCS Community Services Block Grant-Rural Community Development (RCD) program be maintained at or above $11.0 million.

Child Nutrition Reauthorization

The 21 Tribes of the Inter Tribal Association of Arizona (ITAA) urge the passage of Child Nutrition Reauthorization to modernize child nutrition programs including WIC and school meals to meet current needs. Reauthorization should include provisions such as those in the Healthy Meals, Healthy Kids Act, advanced by the House Education and Labor Committee in August 2022.

Action Needed to Stop Predatory Recruitment of Indigenous People to Rehabilitation Centers & Sober Living Homes

The 21 Member Tribes of the Inter Tribal Association of Arizona (ITAA) support the creation of a task force made up of Tribal leaders, law enforcement, AHCCCS and community members to create a plan to address the issue and funding to create a campaign to inform the American Indian population about unscrupulous rehabilitation centers and sober living facilities.
